2014 Hyundai Sonata owner complaints

I’ve had my car for a year and I change the oil faithfully. Well I now have a rod knocking and not sure why? My car has 138,000 miles on it. And I’ve changed my oil and filter as I should so now my car is sitting in the yard it cranks but when you crank it you wouldn’t think anything was wrong with it. You give it gas and it starts knocking. Why is this happening?

Engine over heats and won't start for several hours. It doesn't matter if the engine has been running for 5 minutes or an hour or more. When turning the key the engine clicks and won't start. You have to turn the key on several times (when the engine is cool) to have the engine start running. I have read this problem has been under recall by Hyundai, but my VIN number is excluded according to online information. I have received recall notices on issues and believe my car's VIN should have also been on the engine recall list.

The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while the son was driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle suddenly would not accelerate before the engine stalled. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 130,000.

My engine is burning through oil and also smoking while driving and has a burn smell coming through air vent. I scheduled to have it repaired and have a screenshot of the recall but when I took it to get repaired they stated there are no recalls on my vehicle and I would have to pay. I then called Hyundai customer service and was told they see the recall in one system but not the other and that they will give me a call back. I then never received a call back so I called again and was told that they cannot fix the engine recall and that I would need to get a diagnostic and pay for it myself.

There was no warning, engine seized on main Hwy at night driving approximately 45mph. Couldn’t even pull off to the side. My child and I were stuck on a main road with no warning anything was wrong. Car stopped driving completely. This was my forth engine. Hyundai has always replaced it. 4 in 27k miles. This time they denied it.

I was driving my 2014 Hyundai Sonata in a rural area when smoke suddenly entered the cabin from the engine compartment. Two bystanders waved me down, alerting me that they could see fire underneath the engine compartment. I immediately stopped the vehicle, turned it off, and exited safely. I attempted to contact 911, but reception was poor. The fire spread from the engine compartment and engulfed the vehicle, producing thick smoke that created a serious safety risk. Emergency services arrived approximately 15 minutes after being notified and extinguished the fire. The vehicle burned for approximately 30 minutes in total resulting in total loss. The ac actuator blender door keeps getting stuck and causes knocking in my dash board every time I turn on car. It makes the noise for few minutes and then stops.

The two struts that hold the engine hood in the upright position fail abruptly without warning causing the hood to randomly slam shut that can result in a traumatic brain injury, amputation, etc. that may result in an injury or death. Some other vehicles with engine hoods that are held up by two struts have a metal prop to ensure the hood is held in the upright position in the event the hood struts fail. This safety issue put me at risk as I narrowly avoided severe injury and potential amputation of my hand and/or fingers when the hood randomly slammed down. Carfax is showing an open recall for this vehicle that was posted on 11/8/16. The recall number is 946. When I pull the VIN number on your web site, it states 0 recalls reported. I know the recall has not been completed yet because I work at a Hyundai dealer and I just purchased this vehicle from auction. Which am I suppose to go by? Carfax or your web site. Which is showing the correct information? Please help. *tr

The back lights are going out extremely to often. I have to change them out at least once a month and when changing them I notice that the bulb is black, almost like they are burning out. When I replace on side, a week or two later I have to change the other side. It seems to be a wiring issue.

Tail light bulbs melted into socket. Had to get both replaced. Fire hazard and a defect in design.

Motor began to fail on the highway. Pulled over. 'hybrid drive failure. Place in park and do not drive.' the warning should also have added 'call a wrecker.' dealer says Hyundai is looking at pictures. Car was serviced twice and oil changed regularly. Waiting to see what Hyundai says.

Engine began to slow down...I pulled off the freeway safely as the car beeped and displayed a warning: 'hybrid drive failure. Place car in p. Do not drive' they should also add, call a wrecker, in all fairness. Waiting on Hyundai's answer. After tractoon issues in ice and snow in addition to this...when I get this car back, she's a goner! I need a real vehicle.

My vehicle has for the last year showed signs of the recall and we have gotten a Hyundai to fix it with a ring but the next day the vehicle showed the same things. The symbol in the middle that displays drive when it disappears the car struggles to accelerate and drive , and when I come to a complete stop with it disappereared the car takes alot of gas to accelerate. Which I believe is from the transmission and the car not being on the same page.. Which is terrible as it can cost a lost of life due to the car suddenly stopping and it is a extreme hazard to myself and my family. And I wish that Hyundai would do something or replace the vehicle.

The engine stalled on seversl occasions and the dealership could not duplicate. On 7/21/2014 it stalled again while in gear.,closing damage to front bnker sterling loss control while backing out of hndicap spot. There is an insurance claim, towing, body shop repair and rent a car costs.

Door will not open from inside or outside of the vehicle and it is a safety issue. There are forums of the same issue with this make and models
