2014 Nissan Maxima owner complaints

The passenger side airbag will not activate when I sit in the passenger seat. I am a 5'4" woman that weighs 125lbs. Our 2015 Nissan altima was recalled for the same issue, only I did not experience the problem in that vehicle or in any other vehicle I ride in as a passenger. Even if my purse, which weighs at least 10lbs, or my dog that weighs 25 lbs sits in my lap, the sensor does not register my weight properly. I feel this issue is due to the sensor not being positioned properly in the passenger seat. I have complained about this issue to Nissan and have 2 case numbers. 22789194 and 23879183. I was instructed to take the vehicle to 2 dealers, which I did. I was informed since there was not an error code on the computer, the airbag was functioning properly. I requested a specialist to

Passenger airbag light comes showing that nobody is sitting in the passenger seat when in fact there is somebody sitting there. To me this means that if a crash occurred with someone in the passenger seat and the indicator shows nobody there, the airbag may not deploy. *tr

At random times when I am driving the car and my wife is sitting in the front passenger seat the 'passenger air bag is off' light located in the dash illuminates indicating the system thinks the seat is empty. This is random and always after a period of driving the car. My wife weighs approximately 160#, and is sitting flat bottomed on the seat with both feet on the floor. We have begun taking cell phone photos showing a time and date stamp as proof. We also have some without a time stamp. We have taken the car to a Nissan dealer 3 times and they report 'no problem found'. I have contacted Nissan customer service and they are not interested. I am willing to provide the photos as proof. So far the times we have experienced this is at hiway speeds, flat and level roadways.

Passenger side air bag stays lit indicating that air bag is off and will not deploy in the event of a crash. This occurs when there is an adult passenger in the seat. Because the light is intermittent when taking it to the dealer if the light is off I am told there is no problem. This is a safety issues that needs to be addressed. The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Maxima. The contact stated that the passenger’s side air bag warning light was illuminated. The air bag located in the seat failed to activate as designed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the passenger’s side seat sensor was inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the occupant sensor was inoperable. The dealer confirmed that the part was no longer in production. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

Nissan CVT transmission on 12/05/2018, about 10:00am- took my vehicle in for oil change and vibrating and shaking of car. Paid about $350.00 for oil change and transmission flush and change (which the service dept. Said I needed for transmission). That same day about 5:00pm while on the freeway my car stopped accelerating, starting shaking and I was able to pull over gradually to the side of the freeway. I got it towed back to the same Nissan service center for them to evaluate. On the next day the service representative says the car needs a new transmission and the warranty has expired. My car transmission is unstable. I have a 2014 Nissan maxima with 88k miles and check engine soon sensor came up. My car on streets was not shifting properly and eventually would stall. Ran diagnostic, p1778 code for transmission step motor replacement. Replaced this part and transmission still giving issues. My car has stalled on me several times on the highway with my family in the car, very hazardous. Driving the car stop and a light. Light turns green and the car inches through the intersection. Pedal is to the floor and nothing happens. Eventually power starts to build up and I can go,but once I get to a light it repeats itself and not power after brake is released.

While pulling into a parking space, I heard my engine racing. Immediately, I felt the car lurch forward. To avoid misapplying my foot to the gas pedal, I withdrew both my feet to the floor, next to the seat. The car continued forward at a fast rate. I was driving along the highway on a sunny day, about 75 degrees fahrenheit, going approximately 65 MPH when I heard a loud exploding type of noise. The next thing I know I hear rattling overhead. I don't live far from where the incident happened so continued to drive .25 miles approximately to my residence and immediately get out to inspect my vehicle. The sunroof was shattered into a million pieces and there was huge hole right in the middle of it. I had not opened the sunroof while driving so the visor was thankfully closed when it broke.

2014 Nissan maxima with 43000 miles. Sunroof exploded twice while driving on the freeway at 70 MPH. Almost exact same of hole left in roof. Once on july 20th 2016 and once on august 15 2016 after being replaced with OEM parts. Danger to my children in the car and others on the road. Nissan refused to do anything after calling in and speaking with the compliant department. I have since repaired it a second time and returned it to the dealership - I do not feel safe driving the vehicle.

The driver side seat belt is stuck for some reason and I cannot adjust the lock part to fasten or wear my seatbelt which mean I can't follow texas seat belt law and could be hurt or killed due to this issue. 2014 Nissan maxima seat belts have a design flaw that I do not believe was the design intent. The automatic locking restraint or alr locks on acceleration and on descending steeper hills at constant speed. This pins the driver to the seat, making it impossible to look over his shoulder, for instance, during merging onto a highway. The owner's manual states clearly that the alr deploys on rapid deceleration as it should; as every other car does. However, the Nissan maxima alr also deploys on acceleration in a straight line acceleration and lateral acceleration. I have never had a car that behaves in this way. We have a 2014 Nissan altima that does not behave in this way. I have driven two 2014 maxima's that exhibit this behavior and the dealer says there is nothing they can do to correct

While using low beam headlights at night, lights are very dim and dangerous to see the road ahead. Very dangerous to see ahead of me. I have tried replacing bulb with little effect. Possible that projectors are burnt out and will need entire headlight assembly replacement.

Low beam headlights are dangerously low. No matter the quality of bulbs or the clarity of the lights the low beam headlights offer extremely limited visibility. Requires high beams when driving at night. I have had numerous mechanics look at the issue and it stems from a failure of the projector in the headlamp.

My brake have to be pumped before my car stops. Brake resistor is full. No squeaks etc.

While driving on a straight, flat, and smooth stretch of highway in nassau county, ny, I heard a sudden loud explosion. I first assumed it was a tire failure, but the car continued straight and true without any vibration, shaking, or erratic movement of any kind. I pulled over onto the shoulder and upon inspection, I saw that the front portion of the panoramic sunroof had a large hole directly in the center and was shattered, with bits of glass from the explosion resting on the still closed sunshade.
