2014 Nissan Sentra owner complaints

The car first started skipping. Then the tachometer raced and there was no gas pedal. Then it started bucking and the tachometer raced. Then there was nothing again. No power. We pulled into a gas station and it wouldn't go forward just sat with the tachometer racing. Wouldn't go anywhere. We were just outside of nashville tn when this happened and we had to be towed 921 miles home. Cost was expensive. Is at a service station now being looked at.

CVT transmission failed without any signs that a problem was present or warning of an issue. The vehicle was parked and upon driving it, it made several unexplained noises. The vehicles was stopped and would not move anymore. No prior issues or warnings in driving it up to this inccident. Nissan corporate.was contacted and they said they could not help replace.the transmission or give any discounts towards the replacement which was $4,000.. Also my local Nissan dealer would not help with financial assistance or a discount. Nissan sent out extended warranties for this issue and knows it it a problem. But will not help you if you are past their warranty.

When I start to drive it's like my car winds up to 3-4rpms and I most of the time have to let off the gas for it to switch. It even got up to 5rpms and I even let my foot off the gas and had to turn into someone driveway.

The transmission would occasionally slip while in motion during acceleration. When the vehicle was brought into the dealer for an oil change, we brought the issue to their attention. Service department advised that a TCM software update was needed. I located a service campaign bulletin covering TCM reprogram covering 2013 vehicles (sb-10051662-4475). Nissan consumer affairs will not address the 2014 issue at this time.

Car is less then 100k miles transmission completely stops working leaving us stranded in the middle of on coming traffic during a turn.

Car started jerking so took it in to get service , a transmission service was done but mechanic made us aware that this was a common problem with the Nissan sentra from 2013-2016 and that Nissan have not done nothing yet . Car is getting worst and I don't have the money to replace a 4k transmission as I am a full time student

The transmission had a catastrophic transmission failure after 25 months of ownership and 82,000 miles. Car is undriveable. My tow truck driver said he sees this all the time with Nissan's CVT transmission failures. Nissan declined to provide assistance with the cost of repairs because my car was 22,000 miles past the limited powertrain warranty, and because this year sentra is not part of any current transmission recall. It is my hope to call attention to a product that might need to be recalled, as it is my understanding this is a common issue with these vehicles. Consumers who buy Nissan sentras are often budget-minded, and a repair that exceeds $4,000 is not expected at 2 years of ownership, nor should it be.

Our CVT transmission just let go on a 2014 sentra sr with 89,000. It was slipping, bucking and stalling the car. Towed it to the dealer said the cost would be $2200 to replace the valve body and a exhaust timing solenoid. If that didn't fix it, (I would have to pay $2200) it would need a new transmission which would cost about $4300. I called Nissan corporate but they were of no help. They said it is out of warranty. They didn't even offer to pay 50%. I have seen a lot of problems with the CVT transmission something needs to be done. This is our 5th Nissan. Never will I buy a Nissan vehicle.

Two air bag lights on 1 at center interior above radio 2 in driver instrument cluster. Light does not go out even when 200 lbs person is setting in passenger seat. Lights never go out except when key is in off position.

The passenger air bag light illuminates indicating the passenger side air bag is disabled during travel intermittently both with and without a passenger present in the passenger seat. It has happened during all types of driving and seems to occur more frequently when making a relatively sharp right hand turn. Dealer did update firmware and/or re-calibrate the air bag system under warranty but this did not resolve the issue. I believe one or more air bag components is intermittently failing. The duration of the air bag light staying illuminated has been anywhere from a few seconds to 30+ minutes. First taken to dealer in july 2015, have called and/or been back in several time since. The contact owned a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that his daughter had veered off the road while driving at 40 MPH. As she attempted to correct the vehicle, the vehicle rolled over several times and landed in a ditch. The air bags did not deploy. The fire department and ambulance arrived at the scene and his daughter was taken to the hospital. The contact was informed that police were not needed at the scene; therefore, a police report was not filed. The contact's daughter was treated at the hospital for both neck and head trauma as well as injuries to her left leg, left wrist, and left middle finger. The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while stopped at an intersection to make a left turn, the contact's vehicle was crashed into the rear end of the vehicle by another vehicle. The contact stated that her vehicle was pushed further into the intersection and had stalled. The contact stated she was able to restart the vehicle and move it off of the road. The contact stated that the rear end of her vehicle, the trunk, and bumper was crumpled, however the rear tires were not damaged. My complaint seems to be the same as everyone else with this vehicle....a faulty transmission! I just don't understand how Nissan isn't replacing their faulty equipment! Of course as we are just out of the warranty, it is not their problem! My husband was driving the car on the highway and had to get off since the car would no longer accelerate over 40mph. The rmp gauge would go but the car wouldn't! It is very disappointing to know that Nissan isn't being held more accountable for such a massive error in their manufacturing.

I was driving on the streets, about to enter the freeway onto south I-880 and I hear a bang. The driver's side window shatters inward. The city of fremont police came and inspected my car and didn't see anything that could've caused it. Incident history# p14101613 date: 12/10/14 time: 1710 hours the next day, my dad went to the Nissan dealership that sold me the brand new 2014 Nissan sentra back in may of 2014 but the manager on duty said in his 30 years working there, he had never heard of such an incident (spontaneous glass breakage). My moonroof spontaneously exploded while driving to work on the interstate. There was a very loud boom that sounded like a bomb or tire exploding and then glass started raining down on me while driving. Luckily, my children were not with, as there were small pieces of glass throughout the interior cabin including the back seat where they sit. My brakes go to the floor randomly, seems to be from park to reverse so far. Have to pump them back up. The sentra has been at the dealership on 3 different occasions. As reported to this agency back in august 2014, I contacted Nissan corp. Who did nothing. The second visit to the dealership (october 2014) they replaced the rear master cylinders which seemed to work up until now , took vehicle back in december 2014 and they bled the brakes, but its doing it again, and on december 24th, while at a local bank drivethru lane, stepped on the brakes and nothing causing me to strike the cement abutment and damage the hubcap (which the dealer replaced free of charge). Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Nissan sentra. While driving 40 MPH, he brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floor without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the master cylinder needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to west side Nissan (1729 cassat ave, jacksonville, fl 32210), but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and did not assist. The failure mileage was 60,000.

I turned on my car in a parking structure and after a few seconds of driving my car begin jerking and suddenly turned off. The check engine light turned on. With a scan tool, I saw the I got codes for MAF. I did some research and noticed that other cars are experiencing the same problem. I am upset because I continue having problems with my car. First I had the transmission prematurely go out and now I have a car that turns off when driving.

Please reference NHTSA issue 11383950 submitted dec 17, 2020. This is another issue related to the prior submitted dec 17th. On dec 26 the engine light came on. The car was taken to the dealer. The dealer asked if we had extended warranty, which we do not, and then took the car in for inspection. That same day we received notification (screenshots attached) that CVT assemply needs to be replaced (est $3800). After looking further online, there are various complaints and recalls regarding this known issue. We were not included in recalls regarding CVT transmission known issues. Please help getting this resolved to our satisfaction.

On my way to work this morning december 2019 my car going at around 50 MPH stop responding to the gas pedal and I had to quickly pull over in a strip mall so I would not be hit or cause an accident. I had to turn the car off and on again to get going, after that I slowly went to work. This had happened to me on a few occasions already. When I researched it I found out that a lot of people said this is a common occurrence with this year vehicle. This is dangerous.
