Horn does not work. Many times I've had to swerve out of the way of traffic about to hit me because my horn doesn't work. A few times I have almost run into others trying to avoid a collision that would arguably be much worse than letting someone hit me. I've done some research and what others have found is that it's the clock spring or wiring that needs to be replaced/repaired. I'm assuming the horn stopped working when I turned my wheel. Others have had this issue too, but I'm not sure if they've filed anything formally.

On november 11th, 2017 at 12:30am a police officer woke us up to inform us that our had spontaneously caught on fire. The vehicle was parked on a city street, turned off, and not moving. The car had been parked and turned off for for approximately 5 hours before it caught fire. The fire department ruled that it was a mechanical failure and not arson. The fire also totaled the car that was parked in front of it. The reason for the fire is currently unknown although the insurance company is assigning an investigator to follow up on the fire department's report. The vehicle was purchased as a pre-owned lease and had 53,000 miles on it. We also had routine maintenance preformed and oil changes every 4,500 miles. The police report for this case is through the city of santa monica police departm

The low beam headlights occasionally fail to work at night when the vehicle is in motion on city streets and highways, even though the switch is on. The car has running lights that function at all times. On the one hand, the combination allows other drivers to see us. On the other hand, it makes it barely possible for us to see lane marks and pedestrians.

The clutch throw out bearing and clutch needs to be replaced at 54,000 miles because of failure. This is a $2000 repair! This is a KNOWN issue, why isn’t this a recall?

11/21/2017 57,000 mi ODI #11047901.0

At 57,000 miles, the car developed a popping and rubbing noise coming from the powertrain and front end. The dealer diagnostic revealed that the entire transmission had to be either replaced or remanufactured. This has resulted in the loss of the car for over 2 weeks and counting. Subaru is apparently aware of the transmission issue which resulted in an extended warranty for all affected vehicles, however the total failure of the transmission while driving would put people at great risk.

I am having an issue with my key not being released from the ignition once the vehicle is put into park and turned off. I have researched this and it is a known issue caused by the shifter plate guide not being installed correctly at the factory on my vehicle model and can cost anywhere from $350-$450 to repair at a dealer. As this is a known factory issue I believe this should be covered under a recall by Subaru. It is not anything that I as an owner could prevent through regular maintenance. This could lead to safety issues as the shifter plate continues to wear due to incorrect installation. The issue began in june 2020.

Key was stuck in the ignition and left me stranded unable to leave my car. I took the car to the Subaru dealership for them to assess and repair the issue. During this time the service desk confirmed it was a known issue with the CVT park range switch. They advised me that Subaru of America had done a warranty extension but that I was now outside of the time window for it to be covered. Upon further research this was an issue that was all over the Subaru forum boards with similar issues. I contacted Subaru of America in order to be reimbursed and was offer a $100 as a goodwill gesture and they kept referring to the warranty being extended to cover the issue. Subaru of America failed to issue a recall and instead did the "secret warranty extension" to avoid having to inform their customers

Around sept. 2019 my 2014 Subaru crosstrek started making a clicking noise when I made a left or right turn from a stop. My Subaru had 47,000 miles on it. The noise continued to get worse and it started having a vibration in it. Its now starting to catch when you make a left or right turn from a stop. I had it checked out and was told my cv axles are bad and that's causing the problem.

My vehicle was purchased by me at 24k miles I have driven now to 70k miles and need 2 new front axels. I have been sitting at the dealership for 3 hours and they have gone through 3 different replacement axels on the left side. This is not the first time this car has given me issues but being less than 100k miles and needing 2 new axles?? That is insane. The car clicks when I turn and makes a clunking noise

Airbag deployed for no reason, while pulling forward slowly from a parking spot. An airbag that deploys when there is no impact or collision is a clear risk to the safety of the driver, passengers and other drivers on the road.

Rolling into a stop sign, the brakes did not work and was stuck- extremely difficult to step on. It eventually loosened after about 7 seconds and I was able to stop, but had to run the stop sign and almost hit a car. This occurred when the temperature was about 25 degrees F outside. Upon reading on forums and in a Subaru bulletin (# 06-79-20), it seems like this is a common occurrence for many Subaru owners when the temperature drops.

The issue: right passenger side wiper does not clear the windshield properly and ices up so badly that it affects the driver side wiper and visibility to the point that I have to pull off the road and manually clear the windshield and wipers by hand and with a scrapper, hence a safety issue. Steps taken per Subaru service department. 1.) replace wipers, not resolved. 2.) replaced wiper arms, not resolved. 3.) Subaru said it may be the windshield is out of shape, flat spot. I asked if that's warranty since it came on the car when I purchased it new, no, I had to pay for it; not resolved. 4.) replaced wipers 3 more times with different brands; issue not resolved. 5.) called Subaru customer service department with a copy of all warranty and service work to date.
