2016 Buick LaCrosse owner complaints

My fuel line rubbed against a metal bracket in the car taking away the insulation. The only way I found out about this was because I changed the spark plugs on the car. I have asked Buick to replace the line however they refused because of how many miles I have on the car.

I had parked in the visitors parking space at the nursing home. I wanted to straighten my car in the space. When I put it in reverse, my car lunged forward at an uncontrollable fast speed, went across the sidewalk, hit the visitors parking sign, went across some grass, across the main sidewalk to the building, across some more grass, hit the visitors parking sign on the other side, and across the sidewalk. I finally got it stopped in the parking lot by aplying the brake. Since my wheels were turned to park, the car made a complete circle with the wheels still turned. Trunk lid latch disintegrated, and lid flipped open without warning. Driver vision immediately obscured, leaving trunk contents to be easily dislodged and become hazardous to other motorists; will not secure.

The right side power mirror changes position by itself, it only seems to occur when starting vehicle. It will change even if the correct position is entered into the memory. It happens numerous times in a day or not at all. And I took it in for service, the dealer said there is nothing wrong, we cannot duplicate the issue. So they could not fix it.

At highway speeds with the Adaptive Cruise Control engaged, the brakes are heavily applied when other vehicles or obstructions are not observed. ACC engaged on controlled access highway no vehicles or obstructions and random hard braking takes place. Vehicle has been taken to the dealer numerous times for this condition and dealer reports no problems.

This is to amend complaint number 11051891. Cause of unintended acceleration was aftermarket floor mat installed by the Buick dealer! Floor mat has diagonal grooves molded into the rubber in exactly the worst spot such that the corner of accelerator pedal catches in the groove and holds the throttle wide open. I guess they didn't learn from the Toyota / Lexus disasters and darn near killed me in the process!

The contact stated that the floormat was not in the correct position. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called on star and was informed that the vehicle was performing as designed. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 13,826.

From standing stop or while in motion at highway speeds, stomp the accelerator to command immediate acceleration: accelerator sometimes sticks in wide open throttle resulting in unintended sustained acceleration. First counter-measure tried - slap the gear selector handle to neutral position; however, engine remains in wot condition. Second counter-measure - push the engine off switch and coast to a stop. Third counter-measure - stop the accelerator pedal again until it comes un-stuck. In light of the effectiveness of counter-measure #3, I believe the fault is in the linkage from the accelerator pedal to the throttle control - probably in the accelerator pedal linkage itself.

Adaptive cruise engages antilock brakes in a random manner even when no car is in front of you when the vehicle is in motion at a variety of different speeds. Has happened multiple times for several months.

At 25 - 30 MPH and at 45 - 50 MPH the car shakes violently. I took it to the dealership for a diagnostic. They said they knew exactly what it was. I need a new lower and upper transmission. That is the recommended fix. That is something that happens to Chevy transmissions and the cost is $5400. It seems to me that if this is something that goes wrong all the time, that's a problem that I did not create. My vehicle is worth less than the cost of the fix and I still owe more than twice the cost of the fix.

While driving at highway speeds (65+ MPH) the information center will display 'reduced engine power' and car will down shift and only reach 45 MPH. Causing close to rear-end crash. You have to leave the highway traffic immediately and turn off engine. Re-start engine and continue driving. It has happened twice now. Seems like a software problem. *tr

The contact stated that the following day while the vehicle was parked and turned on, the power steering warning light illuminated and the steering wheel seized. The contact stated she called a tow truck to tow the vehicle to the local dealer and while she waited she was able to steer the steering wheel; however, she did not feel safe driving the vehicle and it was then towed to a local dealer. I lost power steering while driving 70 mph on a two-lane highway in Wyoming. There were no warnings before the incident, but a Service Power Steering light came on at the same time it quit working. One mechanic shop did a diagnosis on the car. I was told that the Electric Gear Power Steering Motor needs to be replaced along the whole Rack and Pinion that it's attached to has to be replaced because of the way it's designed. I found out that 2,000 of these same model and year of cars had a recall on them for this exact problem, but my car's VIN wasn't included in that recall. After doing thorough research on the internet, I have found that this is a common issue with these cars, and it's obvious that the manufacturer should have included more cars in the recall. While navigating a curve, my power steering quit, nearly causing me to hit an oncoming car in the opposite lane. I stop and search the car for issues but found none. The care returned to normal steering and two days later, I had a vehicle pull out in front of me, while quickly avoiding the other car, my power steering quit working again. Luckily, I was able to overcome the steering but it certainly shocked me. This is a most definite safety concern that must be looked at closer before someone seriously gets hurt.

There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number 16v651000 (air bags). The failure mileage was 11,500.

Adaptive cruise control dropped out, taking along with it the ABS (warning light), Stabilitrak (handling system) (warning light), Collision prep (message). Dealer states the ABS computer module failed, now in process of finding a replacement. Meanwhile, the ABS, cruise control, and other systems mentioned here are inoperative. It may well be that this may be considered to be a component failure, not an inherent safety issue but under some driving conditions it is clearly a safety consideration.
