2016 Chevrolet Malibu owner complaints

When the car goes into the auto stop mode it completely dies and the light. No dash lights, no dome light, no hazard lights, literally nothing works. This has happened 3 times so far, and all three times I was in the middle of traffic. I'm not happy, I have had trouble out of this car with other issues sense I gotten it back in july of 2020

I was driving on the highway, going 74, all the lights on the dashboard went on (regular lights, warning lights, everything) it lasted about 5-10 seconds and then went back to normal. Drove another two miles regaining speed to 74 and headlights wentout, all lights in the inside (dashboard, radio, climate control), and I had no power and quickly dropped speed. The car completely shut down while I was driving on the highway, in 5:00 rush hour traffic. I was able to pull over to the side of the road and I turned the key off. I waited a couple minutes and the car did startup and I was able to get off the highway. I took the back way home so I wouldn't be on the highway. I called the car dealership and brought it in the next day. They said they have not heard of this and have not been abl

Press on the gas and the car slows down to an almost stop position. While driving on a street or on the freeway, the car decides it wants to shut down. All electrical regarding the front and back cameras have gone black.

Takata recall: I purchase a new vehicle in 2016. I start having issues 6months after purchasing. The first one that was never resolved: check engine, engine power reduced. I have taken my car to Chevy webb in lansin, il. This car has stop on me on the expressway and on the street. When reduce speed come I have to pull over and hoping I am not on the express again. Now, Chevy stop assisting me with these issues because warranty is over but, this issues were never resolved. Now I find out that 2016 malibu had a recall on them may 2016 regarding the same issues that I am experiencing now. I purchased oct 21, 2016. My car has been service over 25 and still having the issues. Please see attahed service report. Please help me

On December 16, 2025 the check engine light and service stabiltrek warning light appeared on my 2016 Chevy Malibu Hybrid. On December 17, 2015 I took the car the Capital Cheverolet service dept who has been servicing my car regularly for the past five years. They performed a complete diagnostics on my car that determined I need to "replace the EBCM with brake pressure modulator valve" and said it would cost over $2800.00. Upon further research I discovered that the same make model and year was recalled under recall #39440. I also learned the my VIN number was not included in this recall. This is a safety defect that has rendered my car not drivable until I get it fixed. As a senior citizen on a fixed income I am unable to fixed. When put my car in park, a display comes on the dashboard saying put car in park. It's not recognizing that the car is in park and won't shut off! It has happened several times with the lasted being 12/19/2020!

"reduced engine power" warning came and power was suddenly reduced and vehicle speed reduced. This happened while travelling 70mph on an interstate road. Very dangerous as the speed dropped to 40 MPH.

I was driving downtown when car engine warning light came on and it slowed down then shut off, luckily the car behind me didn't hit me. I was able to pull over. I've had it towed 2 time one mechanic said: I needed a motor. I bought a code reader replaced both batteries. Next code p2138 reduded engine power. It a defective throttle control accelerator pedal position sensor. I was driving down the Freeway at 65 mph. The roads were wet and slick from snow and in heavy traffic. I got a check engine light and immediately a Engine Power Reduced light. I suddenly lost power and another vehicle behind me almost hit me. I was able to get to the side of the road and shut it off. After a few minutes, I started it back up and the light was still on. I needed to get off the freeway and find a way to work so I put on the emergency flashers and drove to the next exit. The light remained on but I had full power. I am trying to get an appointment to have it looked at.
