Two days ago on 12/29/22 I noticed white smoke coming from tailpipe. Later that day noticed the coolant level very low. Later on that day started the vehicle and it violently shuttered for about 5 or 6 seconds after starting. This same thing had happened to my daughter the day before. On 12/30/22 was at mechanics discussing catalytic converter issue due to an alarm and he noticed the smoke. I told him about the low coolant level and the violent starting. He said these motors (1.5l Ecoboost) are notorious for having a cracked cylinder wall and that I probably had that or a blown head gasket. He said he determined this due to the white exhaust smoke and smell and the coolant level being low and the violent startups. I came home and began online research. There are thousands of these claims

Coolant is entering cylinders - known issue in the 1.5 ecoboost motors as there are recalls in the 2017 and 2018 vehicles. Ford will not rebuild motor must be replaced at a cost of $5k. Vehicle is 4 years old and just ver 100k miles. No excuse for needing a motor and also Ford is doing nothing to help the customer. Safety issue is mine lost power going up a hill and stopped me in the middle of the road, then appeared fine once restarted. Now misses and does not run hardly at all.

The car reads as a 4th cylinder misfire but it's not. The coil has been replaced twice and the spark plugs have been replaced twice also. Went back to Ford after spending all this money to tell me there is a leak going into my engine form my coolant. Now I have to get a new whole engine and I only have the car for about 3-4 years. This is about a $5,000-$6,000 fix. After researching, this should be a recall due to the amount of similar cases there has been. When driving, the light would come on and off when it wants and it sometimes would bolt forward this is due to the leak to the engine. I've had to had it towed once because it was starting to give up. This is when I took it to Ford to misdiagnose me that it was the spark plugs when it was not. This is unsafe to drive and an outrageous p

The contact owns a 2016 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated with a message indicating that the engine was overheating. The vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer, who informed the contact that the coolant reservoir was empty. The contact added coolant to the vehicle and drove to the residence. The vehicle was then taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with coolant intrusion in the engine, causing the spark plugs to be corroded, and that cylinder #4 was misfiring. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be repl

Flex Plates in Ford Fusions with EcoBoost engines are continuously breaking. They have a recall issued for Ford Edge 2016 with the same engine as Ford Fusion 2016 but none for the Fire Fusion. Once these break you can lose power while driving which can be extremely dangerous if on a highway. There is clearly an issue with the flex plates used and a recall should be issued to fix these.

Coolant leak into cylinder 3 due to defective 2.0L Ecoboost engine. Requires complete engine replacement.

12/28/2022 ODI #11499174.0

I took my 2016 Fusion in to have the timing belt changed after crossing the recommended 125,000 miles. I received a call from the head mechanic telling me that they had halted all work due to evidence of coolant leaking into the engine. He told me that this was a common defect/design flaw found in these cars that Ford has yet to issue a recall on. He then quoted me an exorbitant number for complete engine replacement. A number I cannot afford. Another Fusion was in their bay that day with exactly the same problem. They had already extracted the engine from it and showed me the area of the engine that was so poorly designed. I took photos, as it was the same engine in my vehicle. The channels for coolant to flow between cylinders in the block were made too large, thus causing the block wal

The vehicle was then taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the engine was damaged due to coolant intrusion. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that due to the age and the mileage of the vehicle there would not be a reimbursement for the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000.

Got in the parked vehicle and the display on the dash said the vehicle was in neutral but shifter was in park and would not move. The transmission linkage bushing had failed and the cable was no longer connected to transmission. This is a known recall issue for this model. Dealership advised the recall does not apply to my VIN and I am responsible for repairs.

Car has 60k miles. Losing coolant no leak. Didn't start one day. Firestone couldn't find the problem. Had my car towed to baytown Ford. After a week and a $800 authorization to open the engine only. Next day I was told I need a new engine. $6k. My question was what caused the engine failure, and how can I be sure the new engine wont have the same problem. My oil changes are regular. Mobil 1 oil and filter. I was told the sludge in my engine was because I had a aftermarket oil filter not a motorcraft filter. Not in writing. I knew better and after some research I found a plethora if other owners has had the exact same problem. My car is my key to providing for my family and I dont have $6k for a manufacturer defect. Car has also cut off while my wife was driving but cranked immediately.

12/30/2016 ODI #10938847.0

Went to go to lunch today and cranked the car up and it started and no lights came on or radio. Started to back out and there was no steering. Turned off the car and restarted it and the radio and lights came on but servicetrac light still was on dash. Called Ford and they said it was a steering fault but to still drive it and bring it in on wednesday that it was safe to drive. Um I am not an idiot but that does not seem safe to drive if the steering goes out. Light went off after I left work and all is working for now.

Our brake light came on spontaneously for several seconds while car sat idle with parking brake off (my spouse was in the car and saw this happen). We turned the parking brake on and off, but the light remained on. It went off after about minute by itself. We took the car into the dealer service center to check that issue and do an oil change. They did a "vehicle check-up" (we have the paperwork) and said there was no problem found. Three days later the brakes failed. I was driving on a surface street, crossing straight through an intersection with a green light at around 10mph (I am guessing), and went to slow the car because traffic had slowed. The brake pedal went soft to the floor, yet the brakes barely had any force (I am guessing 10% stopping power). The brake light came on and a b

The vehicle is a 2016 Ford Fusion with 70,000 miles when this happened happened the first time. I pushed on the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. I had just enough braking power to stop the vehicle. The danger is obvious, I had no brakes but I was going slow on local roads. I had the vehicle towed to an independent repair shop where they diagnosed failure of the right rear brake caliper. They replaced the caliper, hoses and ceramic brake pads at a cost of about $600. All was good for about 1500 miles when the exact same thing happened, except now it was the driver's side caliper. Fortunately, once again, I was driving on local roads at low speeds and by holding the pedal totally against the floor, I was able to drive over the curb onto a lawn without hitting anyone. if I had b
