On 10/14, I was driving the car to my job, when the car suddenly switched from its electric battery power to its internal combustion engine. The vehicle's information screen only showed that the battery was unavailable. I was able to operate the car on only the internal combustion engine to arrive at work. However, when I went to leave several hours later, the car would not start. The car was towed to a dealership and apparently repaired after about a week. However, the repair, a software reset, did not fixt the underlying issues, and on 10/27, after having the car for five days, the car again failed on my way to work, displaying a "Shift to Park" message and not starting. I towed the car to the same dealership, and they had it until 11/04. I recovered my car and drove it again to work tha

Loss of Motive Power due to EGR Valve. I was driving down the highway when I experienced a loss of motive power and the Volt entered a reduced power state while in moving traffic. After the EV battery ran out and the ICE turned on, the following message showed up on the instrument panel "Propulsion Power Is Reduced" and the check engine light turned on. The Volt slowed down and would not accelerate to the speed of the moving traffic. I was able to get off the highway and drive home under reduced power which was still not safe. The engine ran very rough on the way home and was not able to maintain speed high enough for the flow of traffic on the roads. The dealer diagnosed the issues as a failed EGR Valve. The part was on backorder for about a month. In that time, a GM trained technician

The latest episode with my 2017 Chevy Volt is a culmination of years of issues with the low clearance on the vehicle causing continual damage and unsafe driving conditions that require expensive repairs due to the design flaw (note - I had a 2014 Chevy Volt that had NONE of these problems). My son was driving the car a week ago and the Engine Control Module (GM part # 12700116) fell OUT of the car. This led to the car to stop driving instantly - if he had been anywhere other than a quiet residential street it could have been catastrophic. Upon having towed the vehicle to the dealership, I was informed that the wiring harness failed which led to the ECM falling onto the street. I drive this car strictly in city limits and on major highways, and despite this the bottom undercarriage is const

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet volt. While driving approximately 25 MPH, the check engine indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the gas engine turned on while there was a significant amount of battery range left. As a result, the contact had to coast the vehicle downhill to the side of the road. The contact attempted to place the gear into drive; however, the gear shifter did not recognize that the vehicle was in drive. Instead, the gear shifter indicated that the vehicle was in the park position. The vehicle failed to move forward or in reverse. The contact was unable to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to allen gwynn Chevrolet (located at 1400 s brand blvd, glendale, ca 91205, 818-528-8597) where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter needed to be replaced; howeve

Vehicle periodically throws P0964 and P0AC4 related to TSB PIC6330. Recently, this has led to poor running of internal combustion engine and low/undrivable power, almost leaving me stranded. Took multiple restarts before I could drive the vehicle. The TSB indicates to replace part# 24285319 (internal transmission solenoid control harness) however GM indicates they have discontinued manufacture of this part. How am I supposed to get my 6 year old car fixed if GM doesn't supply the part?

Car will intermittently not turn off when shifter placed in park and on / off button pushed. Message on display screen will show "shift to park". It appears the vehicle is not recognizing the vehicle is in park. I purchased this vehicle 12/10/2020 and it has happened multiple times thru today's date 12/23/2020. It happens in the park gear when attempting to shut down the vehicle.

My 2017 Chevy Volt is having Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) issues. I receive the occasional error message of "propulsion is reduced" and engine fault codes of P1E00, U2619, U2620, U2621, U2622, U2623, and U2624. GM issued a Special Coverage bulletin (N232432680) extending the warranty for the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) on 2016-2018 Chevy Volts to 15 years/150,000 miles. My Chevy Volt is within this year and mileage range, but for some reason my Chevy Volt VIN is not included in this Special Coverage (N232432680), which means that this special coverage for some reason doesn't apply to my 2017 Chevy Volt, even though it has the same issue. Is there a way that my 2017 Chevy Volt VIN can be added to this Special Coverage bulletin (N232432680) so that I can get warranty repair

Failure of the BECM and “Shift to park” message. The vehicle will spontaneously produce a shift to park message when starting up the vehicle and turning it off. The vehicle will also show a 0 mile EV range and use the engine where a message saying “propulsion power reduced”. This will also cause the car to shut off randomly. The vehicle has not been inspected by a shop or the dealership. There is no warning or message when this happen. Check engine will appear once the vehicle has these issues.

so we inspected your vehicle and it needs a battery module, that part is on back order and we have no ETA when it will come in. That is what the dealership sent me. There are people on Chevy Volt forums saying it's the EGR valve and they've been waiting months with non-working cars. Is anyone doing their job around here?

Shift to park message and will not allow car to be turned off. This problem also occurred ~2 years ago and the part was replaced by Chevrolet under warranty. This seems to be a serial defect

Problems with EGR valves still in defects, and engine gaz motor loose power. GM don’t have enough parts to resolve them.

All of a sudden while braking on a freeway offramp, the check engine light came on and a reduced propulsion warning came on my screen. The car ran weird for about a day, then it wouldn't start. I had it towed to a dealer, they diagnosed the BECM went bad, now my car has been there 2.5 weeks and there's no estimated ship date for the part, much less repair date. If they said they had enough parts for BECM failures, they're either lying to you or they're lying to me.

On Sunday night, I was driving around 65 mph on the 405 freeway to take my friend to the airport. I noticed that the car started to give a weird feedback sensation on the pedals and had started to jerk us forward. As I merged onto the two-lane on ramp to the 10 freeway, the car started to rapidly lose power and then completely died and went dark. I was unable to use the hazard lights as the car had just gone dark but then it turned back on but would not let me shift it into drive. As I was on a two-lane on-ramp with no shoulder in the dark, we just had to pray that no one would hit us. In doing research, I suspect that this was yet another BECM failure that has been repeatedly happening with this year of Chevrolet Volts. There was most recently a class-action lawsuit filed for this very is

The vehicle will not turn off after being put in park. Shifting to park should allow the vehicle to be turned off with the start/stop button. It will not turn off in the park position.

My 2017 Chevrolet Volt has had issues with failing to start for years. Many times when the car did start I would receive an error message saying “propulsion power reduced,” resulting in the vehicle being less responsive to the accelerator. I have taken it to get serviced many times only for the issue to persist. Now the car has completely broken down and will no longer turn on at all. The car is currently at a Chevrolet Dealership where a service technician has diagnosed the problem as being related to a faulty BECM (battery energy control module) and that I need to spend thousands of dollars to replace this part. A simple google search showed me that this problem is incredibly common with other Volt drivers, so much so that there is even a class action lawsuit against GM now for this

On [XXX] my 2017 Chevy Volt was having propulsion issues, and later would not start at all. This was not the first instance of propulsion issues, fortunately I was able to pull the vehicle into parking lots. The vehicle was towed to Midway Chevrolet, 2323 W Bell Road, Phoenix, AZ 85023. On Friday [XXX] the dealership called me to let me know the vehicle was ready for pickup. After my arrival at Midway the car was driven one last time and must have experienced trouble, so it was checked out. Midway then informed me that one of the 32 Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) was not producing enough voltage to propel the vehicle and not drivable. Midway ordered the replacement BECM and when I inquired several days later I was told the BECM was on backorder and they hoped to have the BECM in Se

I was driving and then the car turned off and was unable to restart. There was no warning. The car was fine and then it wasn't. The power steering also stops working. Fortunately I was at a red light and not in the intersection yet. The check engine light wasn't on. The BECM (battery control module) failed. I had to get the car towed to the dealership for the repair. The dealership repaired the issue for free since I was still under warranty.
