Transmission will not upshift and engine check light on. Vehicle has 13,000 miles. Second time this has happened. First time no resolution at 6500 miles. Problems related to wiring harness this time according to dealer, apparent common problem but no recalls..
Vehicle had PTU and Transmission replaced in May 2020 for both components failing. Was repaired at dealership under warranty. On [XXX] the car front wheels locked up and would not move. Luckily, this failure occurred during a lower speed turn. At highway speed this incident would have certainly caused an accident with catastrophic results. The car was towed to the dealership and the PTU and Transmission were bad once again. PTU has been received at the dealership but not yet installed. The car is now out of warranty and will cost about $10,000 to fix. There is a Technical Service Bulletin, TSB 21-014-23, that describes the exact issue we have. This TSB applies to cars manufactured between April 14 2014 until October 10 2016. Our car was manufactured in January of 2017. So, the dealer woul
A service shifter message appeared on the dashboard. The gears (pdnr) light up all red. This occurred while driving on the highway. This also occurred on christmas day while traveling on the highway.
I am writing regarding a defective transfer case on my 2017 Jeep Cherokee. I took my car in to Firestone as I was having issues with my Heater not blowing hot air and my check engine coming on and off. I have attached a copy of Firestone's estimate of repair. Firestone informed me that my VIN was not part of the recall. Although my vehicle's VIN is not currently included in the existing recall, I am experiencing the same failure that has been widely reported and documented for this model and model year. My Jeep is only eight years old, and a transfer case should not fall under normal use at this age. This issue is a known and recurring problem with 2017 Jeep Cherokees, and the failure of such a major drivetrain component raises serious concerns about the reliability and safety of the
Message "service shifter" pops up on the instrument panel, and a series of red alert lights appear next to every gear on the automatic transmission shifter lever. This problem is rampant among 2017-2018 Jeep cherokees!! The dealers are unable to fix the problem! They replace the wiring harness, they replace the shifters themselves, they reset the computers ' and the problem always returns! The website https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t68742_ds990296 alone contains the stories of over 80 Jeep cherokee owners who have this ongoing problem. Imagine how many Jeep owners across america are suffering with this issue! Jeep replaced the 2014 shifters that were recalled (the ones that killed star trek actor anton yelchin in 2016) with this new shifter - and this one is just as bad! These v
The vehicle is experiencing a malfunction of the Power Transfer Unit (PTU), which is part of the drivetrain / power train system. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. The vehicle loses power during driving and produces grinding noises when making hard turns, which creates a risk of loss of propulsion while in motion, increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicle has stopped, loss of power while driving, at lights, and while waiting in traffic to make turns. The problem has been experienced multiple times during normal driving conditions. Formal dealer confirmation is pending / not yet completed. An appointment was made at Jeep dealership for software update (free) and a charge of $240 per hour for a diagnostic test to see what is causing the vehicle to suddenly
This is clarification and additional information to a previous complaint filed: 11706675. The vehicle was experiencing grinding during hard turns shortly after i purchased it off the dealership lot in 2017. I didn’t know why, I thought I should practiced not making hard turns and thats what I did. Years later, around 2021 or 2022, I needed the first service on my vehicle, outside of regular maintenance (coolant hose piece replacement) and the mechanic mentioned the grinding during test drive while turning. I told him it always did that and that was the extent of that. He said nothing else and I didn’t know any better. Tjat shop has since closed down and I’ve been going to another mechanic since then. Most recently, December 2025, the vehicle started shutting off while driving. Im going to

Service engine light is coming on. We just bought this on 12/28/2019 with 46198 miles. Sifter issues. Light came on as driving down the highway at normal speed.
Have a problem with my call losing all power in my jeep while sitting at an intersection waiting for the light to change. Almost got rear-ended cause my car just suddenly lost power. Power finally came back in 20 or 30 seconds but I had people honking horns and I'm was frazzled. Now I have this Service Shifter error on my dashboard and the PNDR lights all are on and red..Came on Jeep automakers. Do better!!

Leaking a lot of oil to the point I had to refill every week.
On four occasions the engine started racing while I was braking. On the most recent occasion, I was trying to stop the car for a woman in a crosswalk when the engine started racing even though I was braking. This lasted several seconds before returning to normal idling. I was in a mall parking lot
My engine consumes oil. I cannot even reach 2000 miles between oil changes. My car will just cut off while I am driving (at any speed including highway speeds and turns). When this first happened I checked the oil and the engine was completely empty of oil. It didnt even register on the dipstick. I have had over 6 oil changes since I bought my car in 01/2019 (less than a year). I have had oil consumption testing completed and everything "comes back in range". The engine has been inspected and nothing is leaking or faulty. My car takes full synthetic oil which should last way longer than that. I am aware this is an overall issue with 2017 jeeps of all models. The service manager at the dealership didnt seem like he know much of anything and tried to tell me that this was normal. I have neve

I keep getting a “service shifter” message on my dash board and ask the great lights light up. When taken to get inspected or fixed, the message disappears and nothing can be done. When they check the car , no error codes pop up. But I keep getting this message and I’m not the only one.
If it is below freezing outside, my gas door will not open. When I press the open button inside my car, it makes a sound as if it is trying to open, but will not budge. Even when I try to open it manually, it won't open without extreme force and several minutes of trying. My gas door has popped off twice due to this issue and trying to get it open.
Service shifter light came on. Second time this has happened to this vehicle . We have paid to have fixed twice. Same alert both times . Still waiting on part . There are 78 ahead of me. This is a recurring problem for Jeep products. Reading a lot of complaints online . There should be their problem to fix
cruise control 1 complaint shown
The following occurred at approximately 10:40 am: While traveling on our way home from grocery shopping, heading west on G Ave (Kalamazoo County, Michigan, on the north side of WalMart), cruise control was set to 53 mph (55 mph speed zone). Vehicle began to accelerate up to 59 mph, well beyond speed control setting, whereupon I pushed the “Cancel” button. Engine immediately revved up to about 6000 rpm, although drive seemed to disengage (it did not accelerate further), then RPM gradually returned to normal and normal speed control resumed but not under cruise control. We returned home a few minutes later, without incidence.
