Electrical board that controls the digital portion of the dashboard display fails in cold weather and (according to online discussion groups) appears to be progressively worse over time. My dashboard display is failing at temps below approx. 36 degrees Fahrenheit. The first failures were last winter (2024-25). The affected display includes odometer, fuel gauge, some service warnings/indicators, pl…

The gauge cluster pod that displays the fuel gauge and the odometer blanks out and/or completely scrambles to gibberish. This is apparently a common problem with a few Honda models and seems to stem from the incorrect manufacturing of the part. This is a safety issue since without a fuel gauge the vehicle can unexpectedly run out of gas at any time, stranding the driver and passengers in precario…

My vehicle has been inoperable since 2023. The dealership refuses to repair the fuel pump and all other issues, per the manufacturers recall. Steve Allain at Honda of Covington reported to me that the vehicle would not re-start if turned off. The leadership at the dealership (Kyle Mitchell) and Courtney Gullien communicated to me that the car was operable and the fuel pump was repaired, but wil…

When it is warm outside or the car warms up it will display, but id the car just started or it is cold out side it will not display at all or will be scrambled. Pounding on the dashboard sometimes causes it to turn on. This is an extremely common issue that i am seeing…

The fuel gauge/mileage screen intermittently stops working, resulting in a blank blue screen, particularly in cold weather. This can be inspected upon request but the issue is intermittent. This can be distracting but also concerning if the driver does not know how much gas is left in the car. A Honda Dealership confirmed this problem, inspected the gauge cluster (combination meter assembly), an…

Common questions

How serious is the electrical problem on the 2018 honda Fit?

It's a meaningful issue. 31 complaints have been filed and the failure mode causes operational problems for owners. Repairs average $850.

At what mileage does the electrical typically fail?

Mileage data is limited for this issue. Owners report failures across a wide range, suggesting cause is more about driving conditions and maintenance than mileage alone.

What does it cost to fix?

Independent shops typically charge around $850 for electrical repairs on this vehicle. Dealer pricing tends to run 20-40% higher. The exact figure depends on the specific failure mode, parts availability, and your local labor rates. If you're outside factory warranty, an extended service contract often covers this category.

Are there any recalls related to electrical?

No active recalls currently cover electrical issues on this vehicle. The complaints filed represent owner-reported failures that haven't risen to the level of a manufacturer-issued recall — but they're still worth knowing about before you buy or budget for repairs.
