2020 Honda CR-V owner complaints

Hi pressure fuel pump stopped working while driving. My mechanic gave me the defective part in case someone wanted to inspect it. At the time of failure, the car suddenly entered "limp" mode and fortunately I was able to pull over to the side. When I tried to get moving, the engine jerked and sputtered to a maximum speed of about 15 mph. All the lights on the dashboard lit up and flashed. Warnings for many different types of problems displayed, but nothing specific about the fuel pump. There were no warnings previous to the sudden part failure. On the phone, my mechanic immediately told me that it was likely a well-known problem with Honda CRV's. He'd repaired other CRVs with the same problem. Fuel Pump failed; the car cannot be driven. Took car to local mechanic and was told the fuel pump is part of major recall from Honda and I need to go back to the dealership and have Honda pay for repairs. I was told my car is not part of the recall, even though 2.5 million Hondas have been recalled with this problem.

When I am in adaptive cruise control mode, and I am in the left lane and a large vehicle like a semi-truck or a pickup truck pulling a large trailer is in the right lane passes me, from time to time it will engage the braking system even though there is nothing in front of my vehicle. Recently it has also been happening if I am in the right lane and vehicle exits the highway on an off ramp. I have been lucky to date that no vehicle was behind me when the braking system engaged, or there would have been an accident. In March/April 2020 I was driving at 65 miles per hour on a rural highway. The only vehicles on the road were my car, the pickup in front of me and the pickup behind me. Since the highway was so quiet, I decided to try Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). I set it for 65 miles per hour (the speed limit). We had been driving for about 15 minutes, each car maintaining the same speed and distance. The pickup in front of me turned on his turn signal for a right turn and entered the right turn lane. As my car approached the pickup, in the turn lane, the automatic braking system activated. Driving about 35mph. Nearest vehicle ahead of me (semi trailer) was about a block ahead. My brake alert came on. I did not brake because there was no need to. Then the car applied the brakes automatically. No accident as no one was behind me. This occurred first week of Dec 2023. There was a prior incident about a month ago where the car ahead of me was about a car and a half length ahead. Brake alert came on, then Went off. I didn’t brake and really didn’t think too much of it. But after reading online, others having issues I thought it needs to be reported.

The auto brake feature engaged on the beltway by itself and caused the car to come to a complete stop while cars behind us were forced to swerve out of the way to avoid a serious accident. My wife is afraid to keep driving the car and we are now figuring out a way to get rid of it. Reported to local dealer but did not get any response.

My rear fuel pump failed suddenly when we were driving in highway. No warning at all. We just completed our vehicle inspections by the Honda dealer 3 days prior. We also had them do oil change, replace brake and transmission fluid. It cost us about $2000 for towing and repairs. We found that there is a recall on other crv made the same year. How can I get my repairs reimbursed?

The fuel injectors failed and were leaking. All warning system lights displayed and scrolled thru dash. We took to Honda dealership and are awaiting repairs. A fire hazard was present from leaking fuel and hazardous condition from lose of power as engine running rough and misfiring.

Every dashboard light came on. Engine, brake and all the adaptive controls were flashing. The whole dash was lit up and my cruise control and lane assist wouldn’t work. Among other things I’m sure. I want to know if this is going to happen again and what about the head gasket now? Can you do the update/ thermostat on my vehicle since obviously it is defective? The car only has 65,000 miles on it. I always heard Hondas were the best vehicles. This is now very concerning. Please advise.

This past year, on 10 occasions, the car misfires and loses power. All but 1 of these occurrences have been on the highway. The check engine light blinks, I pull over, turn the car off, wait a couple minutes, start the car, and the problem disappears. I have had the codes checked by both Honda and my personal mechanic - and neither can find a code that anything is wrong with the car. I have replaced the battery and 4 spark plugs but the issue keeps happening - more so recently as the weather is a little colder now. I am submitting the date of the most recent occurrence - but this has been happening since January of 2025.

We have a 2020 Honda crv lx -purchased new. This is our second Honda vehicle, that has the same defect, poor head lights. Night driving is a nightmare and we limit it as much as possible. High beams and low beams on a dark street are driving at risk. Several Honda crv lx owners on our street have the same night driving experience. I contacted the dealer staff regarding this saftey fault, but the responce was "I never heard any thing about that ! ? They need to be updated ! This is a great vehicle, had prior great dealer service, we have been treated as family, from the owner on down ! But my wife and I have dangerious vehicle as I have found out thru research. Jack j. Approximately 80% of the front windscreen is completely black and the driver can only see the road ahead through the lower 20% of the field of view. This occurs at night in situations with minimal surrounding lighting (eg. Not in the city). The distance which can be seen is less than 100 ft. There is a straight line with abrupt change from the lower illuminated region to the upper completely black windscreen through which hardly anything can be visualized. I have never seen this completely black windscreen in any other vehicle. The dealership told me the headlights were at factory specifications and there was nothing else they could do. I was driving this vehicle (2020 Honda CRV hybrid touring) and the brakes became very hard to stop. It was like standard braking without power assist and required great effort to stop the vehicle. Many warnings appeared on the dash including: 1. Brake system problem 2. Electric parking brake problem 3. Brake hold system problem 4. Hill start assist problem 5. The break pedal felt stiff and I had hard time coming to a stop. That was going on for a few days until the car was dropped off for service. The reason was a break booster failure. We were told that it never happens. Even though the car only had about 15K miles we were out of warranty so had to pay $2400 to get it fixed. We filed a claim with Honda but were denied in reimbursement. Honda had break booster recalls in multiple models but not this one. However, there's no reason for the break booster failure other than a manufacturer's defect.

My 2020 Honda crv was on a city street in motion less than 50 miles per hour when we heard a very loud noise/ explosion. We were not near any overpasses or underpasses. No object struck the vehicle. At our destination, we looked over vehicle and discovered the sunroof/ moonroof had exploded. The temperature outside was around 65 degrees to 70 degrees. This vehicle had just came out of the garage 10 minutes prior.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving 10 MPH and coming to a stop, the steering wheel became loose. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed; however, no cause for the failure was found. The contact called the local dealer and was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was not contacted. The failure mileage was 17,000.

The drivers front seatbelt latch has failed causing the driver to not be safely secured in the vehicle. This causes the airbag warning system to illuminate a warning indicator malfunction light on the dash display. The Honda dealership has refused to repair the item at Honda’s expense due to them stating the seatbelt latch is not on a recall list for my specific VIN although they did acknowledge that there is a problem with the seatbelt latches for that year model Honda CR-V.

2020 Honda CR-V EXL would not start past week on two days (12/01/2025 and 12/03/2025). Auto mechanic (C&K Auto Clinic) has the following assessment: Check for key off draw. Found slightly excessive battery drain ranging from 75 milliamps to 150 milliamps. Found back up fuse #18 to be circuit causing draw. Will need additional time to continue tracing back up fuse circuit. Replace faulty battery.

The contact stated that his wife was attempting to make a left turn from a stop light, the driver's air bag from the steering wheel suddenly deployed right in the middle of her making the left turn. The contact's wife was stunned and impaired from seeing and the vehicle collided with another vehicle in the opposite lane. There were no injuries that required being transported to the hospital. A police report was filed. The front driver's side wheel well and the front bumper were damaged. The vehicle was towed from the crash scene. The manufacturer was contacted and they gave the contact a claim case number # 11744718 and said the contact would have to go through an insurance company. The contact inquired about a possible black box in the vehicle to f
