Upon connecting a level 2 charger, I heard a loud POP, then the dashboard said charging failed, check Electrical system. From then on, the car would not be able to charge on level 2. The dealership determined that it was an ICCU failure, which is very well documented and experienced by owners in online forums. In my situation, no one was put at risk, however many owners have reported it happening while they were traveling at highway speeds. When this happens at highway speeds, it causes the car to slow down immediately, which is extremely dangerous. The part number of the ICCU is the same as the original, which means it's still the same part that could fail at any time. My car has been updated to the latest recall software to motivate the ICCU failures but it still happened to me. Please
The contact owns a 2019 Kia EV6. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not able to restart. The vehicle was able to restart. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V867000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V867000 (Electrical System). The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.
ICCU fail at 58,000 miles. + the front fuse under the front seat. Rendered the car immobile and drained the 12 volt battery. Dealer replaced the iccu and fuse but refused to replace 12 volt, saying that it is covered up to 36k miles. They said ir can just be recharged. But since there repair took a long time, the battery was sitting fully discharged all this time. After that sitting period it would not charge back. So the fault resulted in a week of covered repairs and an extra 12 volt battery cost on an ev, not covered by the dealer.
The ICCU failed in my car while attempting to charge the vehicle while at home in my garage. This component has a known history of failure while driving and now that it has been replaced with an identical unit, I fear for my safety while driving since I live in a remote area and rely on the car for transportation in sub-freezing temps and winter conditions. While the dealer has replaced the ICCU, there is no acknowledgement from the manufacturer that the failure mode of this component has undergone any redesign or improvement to warrant trust that it will not happen again. It is a ticking bomb.
The ICCU charge control unit for Kia electric vehicles that immediately depletes the 12v battery & significantly reduces motive power forcing you to pull over with no countdown to how long one has in terms of distance or duration. This uncertainty is absolutely unsafe as you cannot know how long it is safe to keep driving before the vehicle ceases to move. This ICCU failure has been affecting several 2022 onwards Kia vehicles & even replacing this component does not guarantee this failure will not recur & needs serious action & accountability to Kia.
The defogger system. The car window’s suddenly fog up while driving and not adjusting the system. Theres no warning the windows start fogging up. I adjust to just front defrost on high and it takes 10 to 15 seconds to clear the windows good enough to see clearly . I took it to the dealership and was told nothing was detected. Mechanic told me he turned it up to 85, my cars high setting is 82, and tested the air temperature stating it was up to 105°. This just started after the latest recall was completed by the dealership. I’ve attached pictures of the windows fogged up while the system was on auto. This had happened 3 times since the first incident with the system off auto as well.
Started car. Heard a pop in the back seat area and then an error message appeared on the dash.
I had an ICCU failure. There were no warning lights . The dealership initially could not find the problem but when I brought it back again they did confirm the ICCU failed and replaced it. Failure of this causes the car to stop driving and lose power causing you to stop on the road as well as be unable to charge the car.
The driver cluster in front of steering wheel constantly goes from blank to partial screen to proper driver display. I have video of this happening. The speed, turns signals, odometer and blind spot information cannot be seen during the blank and partial screen. The dealer has replicated the problem. I’m out of warranty so replacement will cost $8500. There were no issues up to the point where it failed.
My 2022 EV6 has been experiencing issues with the 12v battery that has resulted in multiple jump starts. Battery was tested by dealer but no issues found. On December 5, the car suddenly lost power and had to be towed to the dealer. Immediately prior to this the "Check Vehicle Electric System" light came on. The warning light came on and the car experienced an immediate loss of power and the died completely. It has been one week and they have yet to diagnose the issue.
Driving South on Route 15 in Gettysburg Area on 11-22-2023 I got a warning message on my dash which read “check electric vehicle system”. The warning disappeared off the dash and we continued to drive a bit further. The warning light illuminated once again and I started to look for a pull off area. Not long after the warning appeared the second time a bigger warning came on the dash and directed me to pull over and stop. We fortunately were able to get into the right lane and pull off the road. We were headed to Northern VA and would have been on a number of multi-lane roads where if a dead vehicle is stranded in high traffic area with speeds exceeding 60 to 80 miles per hour could have resulted in a catastrophe with a car that just goes dead. Remember there is no warning except for
I purchased my car 08/08/2022, my car stopped charging by June 2023. I took it to the shop and was told, it was my charger. In August of 2023, I was told it was the ICCU. From 06/2023-12/07/2024, I had a total of 9 recalls on this car. Kia did not notify me at all for any recall with the exception of the second one that occurred in December of 2024 (the 9th recall). Some of the recalls I found online when my car failed to charge, one my insurance company notified me of and others I found out when I had other issues with my car.

While driving, the car all of a sudden lost power - forcing me to pull over. If this were to happen while on the freeway, a crash would have been imminent. This is a known issue with kia/Hyundai EV's where the ICCU fails and causes the vehicle to lose power suddenly.
My ICCU failed while I was driving and I lost power while in a light controlled intersection in Chicago. The screen turned off and I could not see my speedometer or any driving information. I luckily was able to roll to the side of the road and park the car. My car could not change gears, doors would not work, trying to jumpstart the 12V did not work.
The electrical system failed (dashboard warning light appeared while in park) and then a pop was heard (fuse bursting). Car could not safely drive. Dealer confirmed ICCU failed once checked at dealer. No prior warnings noticed and no issues charging with approved systems leading up to the failure.
In November 2024, my 2022 Kia EV6 became suddenly non-drivable due to electrical failure consistent with a repeat ICCU/12-volt system malfunction. The vehicle would not start or maintain normal electrical power and became stuck in accessory mode, creating a loss of propulsion and complete loss of transportation. This vehicle previously experienced an ICCU failure earlier in 2024 that required dealership repair and battery replacement. After that repair, the vehicle again developed electrical failure symptoms, including loss of 12-volt power and inability to operate. Due to the unsafe non-drivable condition, Kia Roadside Assistance directed and arranged a tow to a Kia dealership. Upon arrival at the dealership, new undercarriage and wheel-well damage was documented within approximately 90

Have had 2 ICCU failures since I purchased the car in 2023.

No distinct incident. The headlights on this car are very poor. My front visibility is extremely limited, especially to the right, since I got this vehicle in August 2022. I have had some narrow misses with pedestrians I couldn't see. These are the worst headlights of any car I've owned since 1970. I have noted that the IHSS rates these headlights as "poor". This should be unacceptable in this date and age. I would like you to require a recall these headlights with those on the newer models which hae achieved a "good" rating from the IHSS. I have requested this from Kia, but haven't gotten a reply. I brought this vehicle to a dealer yesterday. They told me the headlights were adjusted correctly, and that I'd should use high beams most of the time.

While driving along the courtney Campbell causeway there was a loud explosion shaking the car out of control. I was able to pull off the road and inspect the roof, where the exploding sound occurred. I found the glass panoramic sunroof had fractured and was gone from the vehicle. There was only the perimeter of the glass roof remaining. I have filed an incident report with the city of Clearwater and my passenger and I were both seen at Mease Countryside ER. The vehicle is still in my possession.
