2022 Toyota RAV4 owner complaints

The infotainment screen and its buttons do not work. All I see when parked or driving is an unresponsive black screen. There was no warning prior to the screen not functioning.

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Rav4. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle ESC became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the ESC system was updated but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was contacted, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 4,800.

After driving for 35 minutes (in the rain), I pulled up to work and let someone out. While car was sitting there in park, it bucked in the back, I then put it into park and almost immediately, it shut off with this on the display "Engine Off, Steering Power Low, Do Not Drive". My lights and windshield wipers remained on. I tried to turn it back and and it shut off again. I waited a few minutes, turned it on and went to pull out onto main road and the car shut off again with the same message. Thankfully I was turning onto the main road so close to shoulder and able to keep my car pretty close to side of the road. While driving in stop-and-go traffic on a major highway, the auto braking system engaged and the brake would not release. The car came to an abrupt halt and the brake would not release, the gas pedal would not depress. I had to turn the car off, place the car in park and restart the car, the car then continued driving. There was a message on the dash about EPB.

On 11-9 the vehicle had an unintended acceleration that resulted in a collision. The vehicle was brand new. On 11-8 the vehicle had another unintended acceleration with a different driver where no collision was involved. Toyota is ignoring the problem.

Above checked ADAS items don't work appropriately, and can't relay on them all the time. Apart from that My Toyota RAV4 Moon Roof shield couldn't be able to withstand for the wind during raining when the vehicle speed was at 75mph on Highway i-35 in Oklahoma. The glass busted completely, and those glass particles causes inconvenience to the other vehicle on the high way. I reported this incident to the car dealer but they were so rude to me, and said that car is not designed for the 75mph speed. Ended up convincing myself that RAV4 is not safe to drive anymore.

Yesterday while sitting in a drive thru, my Rav4 began shaking forwards and backwards a few times and then an error popped up saying Steering Power Low, Engine Off. At this point, I turned off my car and put it in park and it took a multiple times to get the car to power back on. This also threw a check engine light. After looking into this issue, we found other owners of 2019-2024 Rav4 also experience this issue and when the dealership runs their diagnostic they cannot find anything. We read it with a personal car code reader and had codes 7E8 and 7E9 but the dealership found nothing.

At the car wash while slowly pulling (1mph) into a parking space to vacuum the vehicle the car unexpectedly accelerated. The brakes failed and the car continued to accelerate until forced into park and turning off the vehicle. During the acceleration there was a grinding noise. This acceleration caused the car to hit the front curb and cement pilings with poles supporting the roof and vacuum. There were no warnings or lights being presented. If not for the curb and being off the road anyone in the car would at the very least been injured and possibly hitting another auto. The dealer is claiming no none issues as described. The auto was towed to the body shop to inspect and repair. We were told by the body repair shop the front suspension failed. The auto was great prior to this i

The Panoramic Sunroof Shattered on its Own out of nowhere. It just made loud noise. we thought it was tire, but car did not make move, looking above we saw the panoramic section of sunroof shattered. I went to dealer, they said there is a point of contact (means something has hit the roof) and they told me i have to file with insurance company. Insurance company is asking a million questions. It seems they are both passing it to each other. TO my opinion it is manufacturing flaw. very unsafe!

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Rav4. The contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the driver's side rear door. The contact stated that the sound was a "sloshing" sound of water. The contact stated that when she had parked the vehicle on a road with an upgrade with the front of the vehicle facing up, she observed that water was leaking out from the bottom of the door. The contact stated that when it rained, the noise and water leak were more noticeable. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.

The contact stated that while either driving at various speeds or coming to a stop, a moving water sound would emit from both the rear driver and passenger side doors. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer on multiple occasions to have the doors drained to prevent mold from developing inside the vehicle. The contact was also informed by the dealer that the failure was a result of the vehicle's design and that no other repairs could be made to address the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

It was a rainy day and I had come home to pick up someone, didn’t turn my car off but had it in park. I went to reverse and pressed on gas, all of a sudden my engine started to aggressively shake/vibrate while showing on the dash that power steering was off, I couldn’t move my car anymore. I turned it off and same thing. Finally after 15 minutes, it started back up like normal. Scary to think others have been experiencing this with or without rain involved, and also while driving. Toyota is suppose to be reliable. Taking it in to Toyota service department tomorrow, but scared to drive it and just be told nothing is wrong like others have been told.

Electric Power Steering Low indicator displayed while driving. It re-appeared several times over the past days. Called dealer and awaiting their response.

When driving at a speed of ~60 miles, I felt a brief loss of power steering. The wheels were heavy and difficult to control. It lasted for less than a second but occurred twice already in one week.

Car automatically accelerated when slowing down to make a turn into parking lot. Car is only a few months old and has 7,000 miles on it.

Lurching transmission when under mild acceleration at low speeds. Infotainment system does not work correctly and causes all infotainment controls to become unresponsive.

I was in a collision which was a tbone situation on the drivers side and the drivers side or front airbags did not deploy.
