I am reporting a latent manufacturing defect in my 2024 Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX (Hybrid). This vehicle is equipped with the V35A-FTS engine, which has been officially recalled in non-hybrid Tundra models (NHTSA Recall 25V767) due to internal machining debris that causes catastrophic engine failure. Current Situation: Although my vehicle has not yet experienced a total engine seizure, it contains the exact same engine architecture and manufacturing origin as the recalled units. I am filing this complaint because Toyota has excluded the Hybrid models from the safety recall, citing that the electric motor acts as a safety backup. Safety Concern: My safety and the safety of my passengers are at risk because this "safety backup" claim is unproven and potentially false. Data from other owner

On July 31, 2024, my vehicle lost power while driving on the freeway and I had to make an emergency stop. Luckily I was able to do so safely. I brought the vehicle to Toyota Dealership South Bay to report this issue. The dealership inspected the vehicle but stated that they were unable to diagnose or replicate the problem and returned the vehicle to me without repair. The issue persisted and/or reoccurred after that visit. On November 6, 2025, Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing issued Safety Recall No. 25V767000 (NHTSA Campaign Number 25V767000), titled “Debris in Engine May Cause Stall.” According to the recall, debris from the manufacturing process may contaminate the engine and cause the main bearings to fail, which can result in an engine stall and loss of drive power. The r
Car indicated "Check Engine" with Reduce Engine Power and advise to visit dealer. This car was purchased around 10/30/2023 and just a little around 1,593 miles odometer.
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V767000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the recall was received for a vehicle that was never purchased and never owned, and requested to be removed from the recall distribution list. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the error.
Vehicle experienced a loss of power while driving on a busy freeway and an extreme lag between pressing the gas pedal and when the vehicle would start going again. Called the dealership and was told “that’s a know issue with no current fix” they wouldn’t even look at the vehicle because there is a recall on my engine for this exact problem and Toyota does not have a fix yet.
Vehicle lost power and wouldn’t speed up while I was on the freeway and nearly caused a wreck because I couldn’t get the vehicle up to the speed limit. I pulled over and after shutting the vehicle off for an extended amount of time I then restated my truck but still experienced a lag in the engine. I would press the gas pedal and it took a while for the engine to seemingly engage and take off. The dealer was notified and they stated “we know of the issue but there is no fix, no need to bring it in as we are aware of the issues”
I am submitting a safety defect concern regarding Toyota’s V35A 3.4L twin-turbo V6 manufacturing defect involving machining debris contaminating crankshaft main bearings. Toyota initiated a safety recall in May 2024 for MY 2022–2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX vehicles, citing debris left in the engine during manufacturing that can lead to bearing failure, engine failure, loss of motive power, and increased crash risk. In November 2025, Toyota expanded this recall to include MY 2022–2024 Toyota Tundra, MY 2022–2024 Lexus LX, and MY 2024 Lexus GX vehicles, citing the same defect mechanism. Despite this expansion, Toyota has excluded i-FORCE MAX hybrid vehicles from the recall population. My vehicle is a 2024 Toyota Tundra i-FORCE MAX, VIN [XXX] , build date 02/2024, with 3,667 miles. It u
Engine failed at highway speeds resulting in loss of power. Dealer found debris from manufacturing process in engine that caused a bearing failure. Vehicle only has 7,500 miles on it at time of failure.

You step on accelerator and it doesn’t accelerate… it lags and almost caused accident more than 4 times! Throttle body won’t open up and go. I feel they need to remap the system.
When coming to a stop and then trying to accelerate to turn into a street I get an abnormal amount of throttle lag. There’s even times it seems to lag and then registers that I am trying to accelerate quickly causing me to “burn out” while I’m turning and no I am not accelerating crazy. There’s been a few close calls where I almost lose control of the vehicle.
When slowing down to a stop but not stopping completely then speeding up to enter another street or an intersection there is a 1-2 second hesitation before the truck reacts and actually moves. This is very scary and dangerous as it can cause an accident with oncoming traffic in certain situations. Toyota knows about this and does not have a fix for this defect.
Vehicle lag / hesitation after pressing the gas pedal.
Throttle lag/hesitation when making a right hand turn after a stop. Truck was moving after taking my foot off the break to advance my vehicle to get a clear line of sight due to cars parked on the roadway. Once line of sight was clear there was a lag/hesitation after stepping on the accelerator
While driving down the highway at ~70 mph, the truck's powertrain suddenly shut off. The electronics still worked, but the RPMs dropped to zero. I was forced to pull off to the side of the road, where I tried to turn off and turn back on. The truck kept on turning off and on by itself electronically, but the engine and transmission wouldn't engage for roughly 10 minutes. I was eventually able to start the truck and limp home, but the engine was knocking afterward. Completely shutting down while driving down the highway at cruising speeds is insanely unsafe.
There is a severe throttle lag that is random. It has caused near collisions due to the response time. The truck will also randomly jerk forward. I reported it to dealer and they said it was normal and to drive the truck in sport mode. This not a solution and will cause an accident if not resolved soon

The lens on the forward facing camera in the front grill cracked making the camera useless and in need of replacement. I first noticed the problem about a year ago. It is available for inspection. I can't see any damage around the camera that would have been caused by an object hitting the front of the truck which leads me to believe that the camera lens cracked because of a defect. The camera has not been inspected by the dealer however I have gotten a replacement estimate at the dealer.
Both passenger seats by controls plastic cracking. Infotainment center blacks out and marker bars and back up lines for both back up and front parking have disappeared. GPS even when linked to my phone screen will black out but phone gps will still work. I have complained about this multiple times. Toyota did a factory reset on it and didn’t fix the issue took it back and a tech had to re-install program said the Infotainment center has a known issue where it forgets the program. I also informed Toyota about the engine seems to be really sluggish when at a complete stop and then start again taking a few seconds to go along with shifting hard from stop and go. Toyota did say they saw what I saw and this usually happens when people double foot pedals. I told them I don’t do that. I am frustr

Vehicle consistently exhibits throttle lag from a stop. It is almost like the engine is not responding to the throttle input. This condition is unsafe when pulling into oncoming traffic as the vehicle does not accelerate and then lurches out into traffic as it finally responds to the throttle input

The vehicle experiences throttle lag from stop or when rapidly accelerating from one speed to another(passing on highway or merging on interstate). Pushing on the gas pedal does not receive an immediate response from the engine. Issue comes up when accelerating from a stop sign or merging/overtaking.
