Recall Roundup: 3 New Vehicle Recalls (October 4, 2026)
This week's notable NHTSA recalls — what's failing on each vehicle, the safety risk, and the fix.
Three recalls this week, two from Land Rover and one from Ford. Here’s what’s failing and what gets done about it.
2024-2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport
The rear subframe can crack on certain 2024-2026 Range Rover Sport models (NHTSA campaign 26V613000). A cracked subframe loses structural strength, which can hurt you more in a crash, and it can also mess with handling and control enough to cause one. Dealers will inspect the rear subframe and replace it if needed, at no cost. Interim letters go out November 20, 2026, with more to follow once the final fix is ready. Land Rover’s reference numbers are D165 and D166, and customer service is 1-800-637-6837.
2024 Land Rover Defender
On certain 2024 Defenders, the second-row seat belt may be stitched wrong (NHTSA campaign 26V615000). A badly stitched belt may not hold an occupant in a crash, which raises the injury risk. Dealers will check the second-row belt’s serial number and replace the belt if necessary, free of charge. Interim letters are expected November 20, 2026, with follow-up letters once the remedy is finalized. The Land Rover number is D130, and you can reach customer service at 800-637-6837.
2025-2027 Ford Expedition and 2026 F-Series Super Duty
Ford is recalling certain 2025-2027 Expedition models plus 2026 F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 SD trucks over a bad headlight chip (NHTSA campaign 26V606000). A contaminated LED chip can knock out your daytime running lights, parking lights, high beams, or low beams, and that failure puts these vehicles out of compliance with FMVSS 108. Lose your lights and you lose visibility, which can lead to a crash. Dealers will inspect the headlight assemblies and swap them out as needed, at no charge. Owner letters are set to mail October 26, 2026, and the affected VINs become searchable on NHTSA.gov that same day. Ford’s recall number is 26C43, and customer service is 1-866-436-7332.
