Turned out it's a bad transmission issue. Nissan/Infiniti will not cover this under warranty, although, it's a known customer experience and concern. I have had to spend too much time/money to take care of this...wish we had NEVER bought this vehicle as it's now become a huge safety-related issue. The vehicle cannot move when you press the gas, it shudders, slips due to the transmission. You just…
Traveling on a slight incline on a city street at 15 to 25 MPH the vehicle has severe shudders\stutters\jerking and has poor acceleration that prevents the driver from maneuvering and avoiding other vehicles.
When the vehicle is stopped on a moderate grade hill it will not go forward when the accelerator is pushed. The motor rpms increase but no power is transmitted to the wheels. The car mush be allowed to roll backwards before the transmission engages and moves the car forward.
The 2014 Infiniti qx60 shudders (or bucks) moderately to severely after re-applying the gas after cruising/rolling at 20 MPH with RPM at approximately 1,000. This happens to me repeatedly (every day) because my house is at the top of the curve of hill. As I approach the driveway at the top of the hill, I cruise and then re-apply the gas to drive up the driveway. The car shudders (bucks) as I…

Common questions
How serious is the powertrain problem on the 2014 INFINITI QX60?
It's a documented issue but not catastrophic. 117 complaints have been filed. Repairs average $2,500 and most owners catch it before it causes a breakdown.
At what mileage does the powertrain typically fail?
Across the 62 complaints that reported odometer mileage, most powertrain failures cluster between 39,950 and 110,000 miles, with the median around 80,000. A quarter of owners report trouble before 39,950; a quarter make it past 110,000. Maintenance history matters more than the odometer alone — this is the reported failure window, not a guarantee.
What does it cost to fix?
Independent shops typically charge around $2,500 for powertrain repairs on this vehicle. Dealer pricing tends to run 20-40% higher. The exact figure depends on the specific failure mode, parts availability, and your local labor rates. If you're outside factory warranty, an extended service contract often covers this category.
Are there any recalls related to powertrain?
No active recalls currently cover powertrain issues on this vehicle. The complaints filed represent owner-reported failures that haven't risen to the level of a manufacturer-issued recall — but they're still worth knowing about before you buy or budget for repairs.
