DISTANCE SENSOR, PART # 28438-5AA0B, LOCATED IN FRONT BUMPER, IS DEFECTIVE AGAIN. THIS DISTANCE SENSOR IS TIED IN WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. AS OF YESTERDAY, I HAVE NO CRUISE CONTROL ON THIS VEHICLE--AGAIN. THIS IS THE SECOND ONE ON THIS VEHICLE, AND THIS ONE LASTED LESS THAN 90 DAYS. THE ORIGINAL ONE IN THE CAR LASTED JUST THREE YEARS. THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME OVER $1500 TO REPLACE IT.

ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND FORWARD EMERGENCY BRAKING (FEB) SYSTEM BECOMES SPONTANEOUSLY DISABLED DURING DRIVING. THIS POSES A SERIOUS ISSUE WHEN ACTUALLY DRIVING THE CAR. THE CAR IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THE SYSTEM CAN ONLY BE RESET BY STOPPING THE CAR, TURNING OFF THE IGNITION AND THEN RE-STARTING THE ENGINE.

Common questions

How serious is the cruise control problem on the 2016 nissan Murano?

It's a documented issue but not catastrophic. 8 complaints have been filed. Repairs average $600 and most owners catch it before it causes a breakdown.

At what mileage does the cruise control typically fail?

Independent shops typically charge around $600 for cruise control repairs on this vehicle. Dealer pricing tends to run 20-40% higher. The exact figure depends on the specific failure mode, parts availability, and your local labor rates. If you're outside factory warranty, an extended service contract often covers this category.

Are there any recalls related to cruise control?

No active recalls currently cover cruise control issues on this vehicle. The complaints filed represent owner-reported failures that haven't risen to the level of a manufacturer-issued recall — but they're still worth knowing about before you buy or budget for repairs.
