What stands out

Owners have filed 98 powertrain complaints with NHTSA against this vehicle, but no formal recall covers the issue — the federal record reflects what manufacturers have admitted, not everything owners are reporting.

Is there a fix? Manufacturer service bulletins

The manufacturer has issued service bulletins covering powertrain on this vehicle — documented repair instructions, service campaigns, or warranty extensions sent to dealers. A TSB isn't a recall (it's not a free safety remedy), but it's the manufacturer acknowledging the issue and how to fix it.

Service Bulletin A25-013 May 2025

Service Bulletin - During manufacturing, improperly sized bolts may have been used to install the motor mount on the front electric drive transmission module. Improper bolts may cause damage to the drive unit case resulting in an oil leak.

The failure pattern owners describe

Owners report loud clicking, grinding, clunking, and ratcheting noises from the front CV axles and joints during low-speed turns, especially in parking lots, U-turns, and sharp turns. The noise is reproducible and occurs at wheel-rotation rates, often worse in cold ambient temperatures. In severe cases, owners describe violent shuddering, lurching, and binding sensations that affect steering control and driver confidence. Symptoms typically emerge between 600–15,000 miles, with many owners noting the problem present from early ownership.

Dealers confirm the issue and diagnose defective CV joints and front half-shaft assemblies. However, replacement parts are frequently backordered, leaving vehicles out of service for weeks or months. Multiple owners report that replacement axles and half shafts fail again shortly after installation, sometimes immediately upon pickup. Honda has acknowledged the problem internally and instructed dealers to stop proactive replacements, telling owners the issue is under investigation and does not pose a safety hazard. Owners dispute this assessment, noting that a failing axle could result in sudden loss of power to the wheels or compromised steering control.

A separate but related issue involves "Service High Voltage System" and "Service Vehicle Soon" warning lights appearing at very low mileage (97–700 miles), accompanied by reduced acceleration, inability to charge, and loss of cabin heat. Owners report Honda technicians cite overcharged AC systems, software updates, and battery cooling defects, but permanent fixes remain unavailable. Some owners describe concern about thermal runaway and fire risk. No diagnostic codes are consistently cited across narratives for the electrical warnings.

Failure modes owners describe

Front CV Axle / CV Joint Clicking and Grinding

Front CV axles and CV joints emit loud clicking, grinding, ratcheting, or popping noises during low-speed turns and acceleration. In severe cases, owners describe violent shuddering, lurching, and binding that affects steering control. Symptoms appear early in vehicle ownership (600–15,000 miles) and are worse in cold ambient temperatures.

When: 600–15,000 miles; most common 7,000–10,000 miles; worse in cold ambient temperatures (below ~32°F)

Symptoms owners cite: Loud clicking noise when turning left or right; Ratcheting or grinding sounds from front axle/CV joint area; Clunking and popping during low-speed turns and acceleration; Violent shuddering, lurching, and binding (severe cases); Noise reproducible on every drive; tied to wheel rotation rate; Noise worse in cold weather; No warning lamps or diagnostic trouble codes present

Repairs/costs cited: Dealers diagnose defective CV joints and replace front half-shaft assemblies; parts frequently backordered for weeks or months. Multiple owners report replacement axles fail again shortly after installation, sometimes immediately. Total of four front half-shaft assemblies replaced in one case with same GM part number. Dealers instructed by Honda to stop proactive replacements pending investigation.

Recalls/TSBs owners mention: Honda acknowledges issue internally; dealers instructed not to replace unless obvious physical damage present. Honda states issue is under investigation and does not pose safety concern. No permanent fix available.

Service High Voltage System Warning with Reduced Acceleration and Charging Issues

Warning lights including 'Service High Voltage System,' 'Service Vehicle Soon,' and related battery/electrical warnings appear at very low mileage (97–700 miles). Accompanied by reduced acceleration, inability to charge the vehicle, and loss of cabin heat. Symptoms may recur after software updates or part removal.

When: 97–700 miles; one case at 1,398 miles; some recurring within weeks after repair

Symptoms owners cite: Service High Voltage System warning light illuminated; Service Vehicle Soon warning light; Reduced acceleration; Unable to charge vehicle battery; Loss of cabin heat / HVAC malfunction; Burning odor when heat turned on (one case); Display inaccuracy regarding power usage (one case)

Codes mentioned: U362A (fault code reported in one narrative)

Repairs/costs cited: Dealers perform software updates, system resets, and part replacements. One case cited overcharged AC system requiring removal of 1.270 kg refrigerant and code clearing. Recommended parts for permanent repair reported on backorder with no ETA. One owner reports warnings recurred after initial reset.

Recalls/TSBs owners mention: Honda technicians cite lack of EV technicians and equipment for software updates. No permanent fix confirmed. Dealers attempt resets and software updates; issue acknowledged as potentially related to battery cooling system defect.
