Editorial perspective by Shop Foreman · Lead technician
At the shop, Mitsubishi body and structural issues have a recognizable signature. 146 documented complaints across 16 year-model entries from 2005 to 2022 is consistent with what we see come in. The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is the standout — roughly 47% of the body and structural complaint volume on Mitsubishi's record traces to that year-model. 2 crash reports on file. Not a high count, but the failure mode has put owners in the position to file. Repair exposure averages $1,500, which is meaningful money outside warranty. For trucks especially, get under it with a flashlight. Frame rust on rust-belt vehicles tells you everything you need to know about how it was kept.
