The PTU failed on a well maintained 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. The vehicle is available anytime for inspection upon request. My safety and others safety is at risk based on a very large scale of reports and articles regarding bad PTU for this vehicle. The SVC 4WD warning light came on my vehicle and the 4x4 system is not working. I took the vehicle to a Jeep dealership. The Jeep dealership performed a diagnostic and inspection of the vehicle and determined that this vehicle has a bad PTU. The dealership gave me a quote of $3,900 to replace the bad PTU.

Very clunky and un even shifting. If I speed up and let go of the gas the wheels lock up and it feels like someone rear ended me. Sometimes when going in reverse and the want to go forward it seems the car can't find the gear and it get stuck in neutral for a while.
The august 2019 recall notice still has not fixed the issue with the transmission. It still fails to shift into 1st gear at a rolling stop.. At a rolling stop, it shifts into neutral and then hesitates for 1 to 2 seconds before shifting into gear. This hesitation can be dangerous when in traffic.
Recall: "2014-2015 Jeep cherokee vehicles equipped with 9-speed automatic transmissions. The transmission sensor clusters may have insufficient crimps in the transmission wire harness, and as a result, the transmission may unexpectedly shift to neutral." I have a 2014 Jeep, this is exactly what my car is doing! My VIN# is not listed as having a recall on it?? This will just happen at any moment no warning, it will jerk forward sometimes, then others times, it just comes out of gear and the screen saids to put in park then back to the gear. Kinda hard to do that in the middle of the interstate or busy highway. (I'm going to get killed!) it seems to loose power/ it sounds/feels like it's stuck in a lower gear than it should be at times.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Jeep cherokee. While at a stop, the service transmission and the check engine warning lights illuminated in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.
Vehicle was not included on 20v343 recall for PTU failure but had said failure. As described in the recall vehicle lost all power and forced to stop on interstate. Got out of vehicle and it started to roll away. No injuries no damage, I was able to stop it. The recall is a joke, just a computer update which applies the parking brake if PRU fails, never addressed the real problem, PTU input shaft failure. When I called FCA they said my vehicle didn’t come under the recall, so never had computer update, because of that I lost all power on interstate (unsafe), started to roll away ( very unsafe) and FCA told the to file a complaint. Thank you The consumer stated another recall, FCA 45A, for the exact same problem was issued, and expanded the covered vehicles, but again his was not covered.
Bought a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, while driving the vehicle one day it started braking while accelerating causing it to jerk the vehicle and had to pull over causing the car to completely shut off. I took it to a dealership to get two recalls fixed on it that I found out about and after getting the vehicle back from the dealership and driving it there has been poor acceleration, harsh shifting gears. I was getting a lug nut replaced on my tire at a dealership. I was about to leave with my vehicle and it wouldn’t get out of the parking brake. Then the Service parking brake light comes on the far. I have to get them to look at it again and they find water damage to the Parking Brake Module due to a leak from somewhere. Having to wait on estimates on what it will cost to fix it. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,000.
I was traveling on the interstate in the left lane at highway speeds when I lost my forward drive gear, my vehicle rapidly slowed causing vehicles behind me to break. My display was telling me to shut the engine off and restart the vehicle. My gear shift indicator was flashing rapidly between drive and natural. I tried to get over to the right lane then the shoulder as other vehicles avoided me. My check engine light was on and I had no ability to accelerate. I got to the shoulder, put the vehicle in park, shut off the engine and then restarted. I was then able to proceed directly to the dealer along the shoulder of the interstate without further incident. My check engine light remained on. The service manager ran a quick check and said the vehicle recorded over 20 faults at the same time

Tank is stuck at 1/4 full, some kind of issue withe the fuel tank. Can will run out of gas if miles are not monitored. The Gas Tank Aux Pump or design of the tank (Hump over drive shaft) is creating an issue.
Car wont accept gas, the gas tank becomes vapor locked, particular in cold weather. When you try to fill it you have to keep the gas at a triggle or the system will over flow. Takes like 5 minutes to fill up a tank easy in the winter if your luck.

Engine oil cooler leaking. Car has 69000 miles and the plastic engine oil cooler mounted on the engine block is leaking. Seals are bad because of the design of the part. Multiple 2014 cherokees have this issue. Known issue for local dealer. Significant fluid buildup under the car and monthly need to refill oil with issue.
My 2014 Jeep cherokee has randomly been popping up a must be in park to shift message followed by the battery sign and then just stalling out. The dealership is attributing this to low oil level. My car never gives any kind of message that states the oil level is low and is not showing that the vehicle yet needs an oil change. Dealership states its because of intermittent oil pressure. The car stalls out to protect the engine from over heating. I think this is a very unsafe feature for my call to stall out with out any warning in the middle of a busy main city street. This happened four times in five days before I finally demanded the dealership provide me a loaner car because their next available appointment was 3 weeks out.

At four different random occasions vehicle will disengage the transmission while in drive and become uncontrollable only thing responsive are the brakes. The power steering will go out as well and the vehicle transmission light and parking light will appear on the gauge display. After pulling over on the highway and letting the vehicle sit off for 5 minutes, I would then restart the vehicle and still get a indicator stating to put the vehicle in park when it is already in park. Afterwards vehicle indicator lights would go away after a few restarts and once put in drive gears would shift roughly. After multiple times of turning the vehicle on and off things will return to normal but as stated before I have no clue what triggers the transmission to disengage. It has happened to me while driv

A short time after purchasing the new 2014 Jeep cherokee, we started having trouble breaking at any speed. As you stepped on the brake, the rpms went way up and it felt like the car was trying to accelerate instead of stopping. It always felt like you had to fight it to stop and it might not stop at all. Took it to the dealership service department and was told it had software updates for the transmission which did not solve anything. At the point that we were calling to take back in, received the "service transmission" warning and was told by service department to drive it in and it would "go into a safe mode". Drove slowly while on a major highway and after slowing down for construction, it would not speed up past about 27 MPH. It had to be to towed in. After a new transmission, after wa

After filling my tank with gas I turned onto a nearby roadway and felt my car sputtering and jerking. As I came to a slow stop at a stop light my car abruptly slammed to a stop and made a loud bang/slamming noise and prompted me to shift to park and restart the car. I followed these commands and the car would not move. As soon as I would shift out of park the loud slamming would occur again and I began to smell fumes so I stopped trying to follow the prompts. I put my car in neutral and pushed my car out of the moving traffic lanes and got it towed. The dealership claimed nothing is wrong with my vehicle and gave it back. I have experienced the same issue 3 times since. They replaced an evaporation pressure switch the second time I took my car in and this still has not fixed the issue. The

I bought a new 2014 Jeep cherokee limited and after one week, check engine light came on and car wouldn't start. Taken back to dealership and was told it was fixed. Since then the Jeep shifts very hard making the SUV lurch forward at times and other times it will shift into a lower gear when speeds over 50 MPH and make the SUV jerk to a slower speed. When cruising down a hill without pushing the accelerator, SUV will shift gears many different times causing the Jeep to lurch forward quickly without warning. When trying to pass a car on the hwy, it takes Jeep a few seconds to "catch" the gear and make it go faster. I have had several near misses of other cars hitting me and me, hitting others due to the unpredictability of speeds and jerking forward. I have had the SUV in the shop 4 times f
